Scott Middleton our 2020 chieftain

Our Scots Day Out 2020 Chieftain is young Bendigo actor Scott Middleton who last year was a star at the world-famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We are delighted to announce that Scott will don his kilt and take the salute from bands and clans in the opening parade down View Street on Saturday 29 February and encourage locals and visitors from across Australia to make the most of the fun day in Rosalind Park. He found his love for performing from his grandfather and through high school productions at Weeroona College and involvement with the Bendigo Theatre Company’s Horizons drama classes and their local stage productions. He studied Drama and Theatre Studies through VCE at BSSC during which time he was selected to represent Bendigo at the Shakespeare Globe Australia National Production of The Two Gentleman of Verona, landing the lead role of Valentine. After his VCE, he decided to continue pursuing his passion and gained a place at the University of Ballarat Arts Academy (now Federation University) to study a degree in Acting. Scott has toured in Disney shows to primary schools all over the country and made appearances on TV shows including Neighbours, Underbelly: Squizzy, The Doctor Blake Mysteries and Magazine Wars. He has toured in Italy and Britain, also studying at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Last year Scott jumped at the chance to be part of the world's biggest and best theatre festival - the Edinburgh Fringe - and in doing so represented Bendigo as the first local actor to perform at the renowned festival. The show received sold out houses and rave reviews making it a very successful debut for him, and a highlight in his career. He then recovered by spending two weeks traveling the Scottish isles and enjoying the whisky before returning to Bendigo. Congratulations Scott - one of Bendigo's young artistic ambassadors as our 2020 SDO chieftain.
